The voices of our martyrs must never go unheard

Dear Fellow Armenians and Friends of the Armenian Community,

Seven years ago, a most inspiring and emotional event unfolded at Lowell City Hall  where the magnificent Mother's Hands Armenian Genocide Memorial monument  was dedicated in memory of the 1.5 million Armenian men, women, and children who perished during the genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkish government, 1915-1923. This unique monument not only memorializes their martyrdom, but serves as a proud and permanent proclamation that their sacrifice will never be forgotten. The inscription on the monument, which greets daily visitors to Lowell City Hall, underscores the steadfastness of the Armenian people to their priceless heritage:

This blooming cross-stone is a permanent reminder that the slaughter of more than 1.5 million Armenians within the Ottoman Empire will never be forgotten, and that in spite of the pain and horror of the Armenian Genocide, knot by knot, the Armenian People everywhere continue to weave their hopes and dreams, as they bloom and prosper.

To properly protect and preserve the Mother’s Hands memorial from environmental damage (long-term UV radiation, acid rain, mold, grime), a fundraising campaign has been launched to establish a $10,000 endowment fund, which will provide the perpetual means for a yearly cleaning and sealing, both of which are critical to assure the resilience of Mother’s Hands monument for generations to come.

Your kind donations can made by clicking on the Donate link above or by check payable to MVAGMC and mailed to MVAGMC, in care of Richard Juknavorian, 61 Salem St., Methuen, MA 01844.
